The last few months have been a creative period for me. While cranking away on my novel revisions with the amazing help of Kate Moses, I’m beginning to facilitate workshops on some of the ideas from the story with colleague/friends Jean and Julie. We held an in-person CORE Circle in July and a Zoom one in October where participants got to reflect about our relationship to time, how it feels to be “splunched” by time, how we might be able to “horge,” and the speculative but almost real “chronofascism.”
I’m also doing work in support of people being targeted by the current fascist regime in the U.S. I helped organize a “Resistance Fair” here at my cohousing community, and now we are raising funds for Voces de la Frontera, one of Wisconsin’s leading groups on immigrants’ rights. Voces has a rapid response network, including a hotline to handle reports of ICE activity in Wisconsin. If you’d like to contribute towards hiring a new staff person to coordinate the many volunteer hotline operators and verifiers, please see below.
I’ve also been making fabric art lately. I have a piece in the Textile Arts Center’s members’ show, up until Dec. 13th. If you’re in Madison and want to check it out, the hours and location are here. The closing reception (and cookie exchange) is Thurs. Dec. 11th 5-7pm.
Most amazingly, I was recently able to use my 3D crochet creativity in the service of Voces de la Frontera’s Know Your Rights training. Voces put out a call requesting 2-3 puppets to use in a training, so I made some! I had a half hour to spare before giving them to Voces, so I played with them and made this video. It’s designed to be informative and kid-friendly, but I’m told it’s also good adult play therapy for facing into these times. Here’s to joyful resistance, playful persistence, creative insistence.
Note to readers: I just found a bunch of comments I’d never seen or approved on previous blogs. I’m sorry for the long delay! I’ll try to keep a better lookout for them.

Ok, I love the craftivism here! 🙂 I also really appreciate that you are leading Arbco in so many ways that are addressing the issues of these times. Looking forward to seeing (and supporting if I can) whatever emerges next. Yay you!
